Town of Beaverlodge looking for new CAO

Jul 8, 2020 | 5:30 AM

The Town of Beaverlodge is looking for a new Chief Administrative Officer.

Mayor Gary Rycroft says Council accepted Karen Gariepy’s resignation at its June 22 meeting.

“We have started the search for a new CAO. I wouldn’t expect anybody (to be) in place until, probably, October or November, something like that.”

A release from the Town says Gariepy had been on leave since the end of February because of what are described as “extenuating circumstances” and offered condolences on the passing of her husband.

Rycroft adds Gariepy made a mark while CAO.

“She set up her staff to do well. She set personal goals for her staff so they’re always doing a little bit better all the time and they’re all a little bit happier with their achievements.”

Rycroft says Gariepy is helping to find her replacement.

“Karen is actually helping us with that search. She stayed on as in an advisory capacity, doing some contract work and special projects.”

Rycroft says Gariepy held the CAO post for about a year-and-a-half and did what he described as an “incredibly good job.”
