Investigation underway into weekend fires at Grande Prairie mobile homes
The Grande Prairie RCMP have joined in on the investigation into the cause of two fires over the weekend that left two mobile homes uninhabitable.
Grande Prairie Fire Department Crews responded to a call of a structure fire at approximately 8:10 p.m. on Friday, July 10. Upon arrival at the scene at the Meadow View Mobile Home Park, crews discovered a home on fire, and extinguished the blaze. The damage was limited, though it did cause some exposure damage to the home located to it’s south.
Then, at approximately 5 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, crews were called back to the same location, and discovered the same mobile home was on fire again, along with the home next to it.
Leann Johnson, a Fire Prevention Officer with the Grande Prairie Fire Department, says after the second blaze, both homes are considered uninhabitable. They were both fully involved in the blaze and suffered extensive damage, while the home to the west suffered some minor damage, with partially melted siding.
