November 15, 1961 – July 11, 2020
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our husband, father and grandfather, Pat, on July 11, 2020 at the age of 58.
He is survived by his wife, Sharri, two children; Jen and Melissa Haley, and six step-children; Carolyn Bowen, Mike (Tarynne) Bowen, Scott (Bradi) Bowen, Jamelle (Andy) Kyle, Graham (Jeni) Bowen, and Lisa (Shawn) Murray. Pat also leaves behind 19 grandchildren who were the apples of his eye.
Pat is survived by his mom, Gladys Foster, and his siblings Brian (Laurie), Donna (Leonard), Bridget, Ken (Sarah), Al (Mary Ann), and Shirley (Marlon).
Pat was born in Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan on November 15, 1961. He grew up in Tisdale, SK on a large family farm with eight children. Pat loved playing hockey, working on mechanical projects with his dad, and spending time outdoors. Pat and his first wife had two beautiful girls, Jen and Melissa, who he raised in Calgary, AB. He was deeply passionate about family and his career. His dedication to his career and post-secondary education led him to receive many promotions. These promotions eventually brought him to Grande Prairie, AB in 2007. He truly enjoyed his work and co-workers at Wapiti Gravel Suppliers, where he continued to work until last November.
Pat met Sharri shortly after moving to Grande Prairie and they were married in 2010 in Hawaii. Pat was an instant hit with the family and took on the role of dad and grandpa with open arms. Pat and Sharri had many adventures travelling, camping and fishing but always made ample time for the ever-expanding family. He loved nothing more than quality time laughing and playing with the grandkids, either at their acreage, the lake or at the kid’s sporting events.
Pat was fortunate to overcome colon cancer in 2016, but after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in late 2019, he lost a hard-fought battle and passed peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones.
A service will be held on Thursday July 16, 2020 at Bear Creek Funeral Home, 11802 99 Avenue, Grande Prairie at 1:00pm. Due to COVID-19 Restrictions, the service will be invite-only.
