Jul 14, 2020 | 5:55 PM

Former Grande Prairie Storm goaltender Logan Thompson signed a two-year, entry-level contract with the Vegas Golden Knights on Monday.

Thompson served as the Storm’s goaltender in the 2014-15 season, where he posted a .906 save percentage and had a 3.38 goals against average. His regular season record was 4-11-5.

After his season in Grande Prairie, Thompson went on to serve as one of the goaltenders for the Brandon Wheat Kings of the WHL from 2016-2018. Thompson won a WHL championship with the Wheat Kings in 2016 and also appeared in a Memorial Cup game that same season.

Thompson would then play one year at Brock University in Ontario in 2018-19, later appearing in nine games in the ECHL that same season.

In the 2019-20, Thompson found some success playing for the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL, posting a .929 save percentage in 32 games with the Stingrays.

The 23-year-old Calgary native does have some familiarity with the Golden Knights organization, as the teams General Manager, Kelly McCrimmon, owns the Brandon Wheat Kings.

According to capfriendly, Thompson’s two-year deal is worth an average annual value of $800,000 per season.
