County of Grande Prairie adds new COVID-19 case

The County of Grande Prairie added one more case of COVID-19 on Wednesday, as the province confirmed 82 new cases over the last 24 hours.

This means there are now six active cases of COVID-19 in the County area, while there were no new cases reported in the City on Wednesday, keeping the Swan City’s total at four active cases. There were also seven new cases added in the Mackenzie County area Wednesday, which now has 20 active ones.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day July 14 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 21 cases (Four active, 17 recovered)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 13 cases (Six active, seven recovered)
  • M.D. of Greenview: One case (Recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 72 cases (62 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 47 cases (Three active, 39 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: Five cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: Six cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: One case (Active)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: One case (Active)
  • Clear Hills County: 16 cases (Seven active, nine recovered)
  • Northern Sunrise County: Four cases (All recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: Three cases (All active)
  • Mackenzie County: 66 cases (20 active, 45 recovered, one death)

There are now 704 active cases in the province, while 8,127 people have recovered. There were no additional deaths reported on Wednesday, keeping the total number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 at 163. Seventeen people from the North Zone have died from COVID-19 since March.

Hospitalizations increased by nine from Tuesday’s update. There are now 64 people in hospital with seven of those individuals in ICU. There remains just one individual in hospital with COVID-19 in Northern Alberta.

There were 6,374 tests processed over the last 24 hours, increasing the total number of tests during the pandemic in Alberta to 552,276. A total of 38,880 from the North Zone have been tested.
