Mobility scooter stolen from JPBG parking lot recovered by RCMP; charges laid against man

Jul 19, 2020 | 3:03 PM

On Thursday, July 2, an unknown man stole a mobility scooter from our parking lot in downtown Grande Prairie that belongs to one of our team members, Scott Maitland.

A couple of weeks later on July 19, RCMP officially announced that they’ve recovered Maitland’s scooter.

Unfortunately, the scooter was found damaged and is beyond repair.

RCMP have charged 19-year-old Kolten Lawrence Weaver of Grande Prairie with one count of theft of a motor vehicle. He is scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on September 16.

Thanks to the community’s overwhelming support, Maitland has received multiple offers from community members to replace the scooter and would like to thank the community for their support.
