Three new cases of COVID-19 in M.D. of Greenview, two in City of Grande Prairie

Coming on the back of 8,222 tests processed on Wednesday, Alberta added 114 new cases of COVID-19 for July 22.

Among those new cases were two new cases added in the City of Grande Prairie, while three more cases were identified in the M.D. of Greenview. The case in Saddle Hills County was moved out of the region for Thursday’s update, while Birch Hills County added one new case.

Updated case numbers among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day July 22 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 28 cases (Nine active, 19 recovered)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 20 cases (11 active, nine recovered)
  • M.D. of Greenview: Six cases (Five active, one recovered)
  • Birch Hills County: Three cases (All active)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 72 cases (62 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 47 cases (42 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: Five cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: Six cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: One case (Recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: One case (Active)
  • Clear Hills County: 23 cases (11 active, 12 recovered)
  • Northern Sunrise County: Four cases (All recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: Four cases (One active, three recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 104 cases (44 active, 59 recovered, one death)

There are now 1,293 active cases of COVID-19 in Alberta, while 8,506 people are considered recovered. Two more Albertans have died, bringing the number of deaths attributed in Alberta to 176.

Hospitalizations increased to 106 in Alberta as of July 22, a jump of four from Wednesday’s update. ICU admissions increased by three to 21. In the North Zone, 12 people are in hospital with three of those patients in ICU.

There have now been 614,692 tests processed in Alberta during the pandemic, while 43,123 people from Northern Alberta have been tested, an increase of 825 from the day prior.
