Bear Paw Golf Course offering kids cash for lost golf balls

Jul 25, 2020 | 7:00 AM

The Bear Paw Golf Course is encouraging kids to get outside and pick up golf balls from around it’s driving range area this summer for a cash incentive.

This program offered by the Bear Paw Golf Course offers kids aged 12-and-under a chance to pick up golf balls from around the course and get five cents for every ball that gets picked up and returned.

“It’s a great program and a great way for the community to help us out by finding our range balls that get hit off the range and into the trees and grass areas surrounding the range outside the fence,” said Johnathan Clarkson with the Bear Paw Golf Course.

“It’s great for the children in the community to come out and maybe, make enough money to buy an ice cream or even put towards something that they’re saving up for.”

Clarkson says that the program has been a long standing tradition at the facility, and he’s excited that Bear Paw is able to keep it running.

He says there’s lots of money to be made for kids that are looking to participate in the program.

“Every season we order on average about 4,000 dozens (of) golf balls, and right now we’re sitting at about half that in inventory. So there is potentially 2,400 golf balls laying (outside) the range right now.”

“Those balls are out there and we’d certainly like them back, so if you’re looking for something with your children and maybe teaching them how to make their own money, this is certainly a great way to do that.”

The golf course asks that those who are collecting balls for cash to please not hoard them, as the course needs the balls for inventory.

Those interested in the program also don’t have to sign up for anything. As long as you’re at the course, you can go collect balls and start making money.

All balls collected are asked to be returned to the front reception area.

Kids are reminded to remain off of the regular driving range, as those balls are live and Bear Paw won’t be accepting any balls that are hit on the field of play.
