Clairmont spray park re-opens

Aug 1, 2020 | 5:00 AM

The spray park at the Clairmont Adventure Park has officially re-opened for the first time in over a year.

It had been shut down since the spring of 2019 because it needed maintenance and repairs in order to keep the facility safe for all visitors.

“We are very excited to be able to open the spray park for the community,” said Christine Rawlins, the Manager of Parks and Recreation at the County of Grande Prairie.

“There were some issues with the electric board that controls the sensors that control the water components and there was also some frost damage in the ground to some of the water pipes as well.”

Rawlins says that the County knew about the issues with the six-year-old spray park when it took over operations from the Clairmont Agricultural Society.

Rawlins adds the park has been busy since it opened Tuesday.

“The response has been very positive and we’ve seen people sharing and tagging the County’s posts on social media, so it seems to be a popular destination and hopefully we’ll be able to see lots of families out.”

People heading to the spray park this summer will have to remember to follow physical distancing guidelines put in by the province. This includes:

  • A limit of 15 people having a close interaction
  • Social distancing of 2 metres apart must be practiced
  • Those using the park are also recommended to bring their own hand sanitizer
  • Those using the park are recommended to avoid touching common surfaces

The spray park will be open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The skatepark and the community garden remain open for public use.

The spray park will remain open for public use until September 15.
