Two people believed drowned at Pigeon Lake

Aug 9, 2020 | 11:12 AM

RCMP in Thorsby say two people have died, possibly from drowning, at Pigeon Lake.

It was August 7 at around 1:10 p.m. when Mounties responded to a report of a possible drowning at the lake 111 km north of Red Deer.

One adult female was located along the shoreline of Silver Beach near Mulhurst Bay and pronounced deceased at the scene.

Wetaskiwin RCMP’s police boat, with aid from fire departments for Mulhurst Bay and South Pigeon Lake, as well as EPS Air 1 and STARS, began searching the area.

Police then located another deceased adult, this time a male, along the same shoreline. A kayak was found nearby.

RCMP continue to investigate. There is no indication that this is a criminal incident, RCMP add.

Further information will not be provided.
