Shandro wants to continue talks with Alberta doctors, admits there is “uncertainty”
CALGARY – Alberta’s health minister says he still wants to settle a bitter pay dispute with the province’s doctors.
But he admits to “uncertainty” in the relationship between the Alberta Medical Association and the government.
Doctors have been protesting and some have threatened to leave the province after Shandro tore up their master pay agreement in February.
Many of them say they can no longer afford to both work in hospitals and keep up their practices, especially in rural areas.
