Alleged stolen vehicle stop near Grande Prairie leads to weapons charges
An Edmonton man is facing a litany of charges stemming from a traffic stop in the Swan City last week.
On August 19, the Western Alberta District RCMP Rural Crime Reduction Unit located a vehicle on the east side of Grande Prairie that displayed a stolen license plate.
Police followed the vehicle for a short distance and conducted a vehicle stop which led to the arrest of the driver.
After the driver was arrested, the vehicle was searched and RCMP found a loaded firearm, numerous edged weapons and brass knuckles inside. RCMP allege that all of the weapons were within the drivers reach.
