Active COVID-19 cases decrease in Grande Prairie area

After processing 8,296 tests on Tuesday, Alberta Health is reporting 114 new cases of COVID-19 in the province for September 1.

Of those new cases, two were identified in the City of Grande Prairie. However, the City did post three more recoveries on Tuesday, dropping its active case total to 19.

The County of Grande Prairie also saw one more recovery (with no new cases), bringing its active case total down to six. All four active cases in the MD of Greenview area switched to recovered as well, leaving no active cases there.

Updated case numbers among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day September 1 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 87 cases (19 active, 66 recovered, two deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 43 cases (Six active, 37 recovered)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 12 cases (11 recovered, one death)
  • Birch Hills County: Three cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: Three cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 74 cases (One active, 63 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 49 cases (44 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: Seven cases (Two active, five recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 12 cases (One active, 11 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 11 cases (Nine active, two recovered)
  • Clear Hills County: 57 cases (24 active, 32 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: Six cases (All recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: 19 cases (Three active, 16 recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 309 cases (65 active, 234 recovered, 10 deaths)

In Alberta there are now 1,403 active cases of COVID-19, while 12,535 people have recovered. One more death related to COVID-19 was also reported by Alberta Health for Tuesday, bringing the provincial death toll to 242 as of September 1.

Hospitalizations remained at 50 in Alberta, with nine of those patients in ICU. In the North Zone, there are 11 people in hospital, none of whom are in intensive care.

There have now been 984,736 tests processed in the province on 779,445 people as of September 1. In the North Zone, 68,618 people have been tested, an increase of 729 on Tuesday.
