Parking App

AHS launches parking app at QEII Hospital

Sep 3, 2020 | 12:01 PM

Alberta Health Services has unveiled a new smartphone app that will allow those parking at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital to pay on their phone.

According to a release from the province’s health-care service, the AHS Parking app allows visitors and patients to also receive alerts when their parking time is about to expire and extend or stop their parking without having to go to a meter.

“AHS developed this app in response to visitors and patients who told us they wanted a more convenient way to pay for parking at AHS sites, especially in the cold winter months or for times when they are unsure how long their hospital visit may last.”

They add that with COVID-19 regulations, they are encouraging the use of the app to limit contact at parking meters, though meters are still fully operational.

AHS explains in the release that no tax dollars or health-care funding are used in maintenance and upkeep of parking lots and parkades.

“Parking fees are therefore required to allow us to maintain safe and accessible parking, while ensuring healthcare dollars are focused on providing the best patient care possible.”

The AHS Parking app can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play.
