County of Grande Prairie seeking testers for new website

Sep 25, 2020 | 12:36 PM

The County of Grande Prairie is offering residents a chance to get a sneak peek at its new-look website, which is set to be rolled out later this year.

The County will be hosting a testing session on Friday, October 16 from 11 a.m. to noon, where participants will get to tour around the new site and complete a few tasks to see how well the site works. The County says the feedback received from the testing session will help them put the final touches on the site before it is officially rolled out.

Those interested in taking part in the trial run must register with the County communications department by Friday, October 9 by emailing communications@countygp.ab.ca or by calling 780-532-9722.

Those without a computer that would like to take part can arrange to use one of the computers at the County Administration Building in Clairmont when registering. Physical distancing and other COVID-19 hygiene practices will be followed.

The County adds that everyone who takes part in the testing session will be entered into a prize draw for three prizes, including vouchers to the Grande Prairie Sunset Drive-In Theatre, the Blatchford Field of Nightmares at Evergreen Park, and the Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum.

Back in January, Reeve of the County Leanne Beaupre said a refresh of the County’s website is much-needed, after nearly a decade since its last revamp.

“As a Council, we recognize a lot has changed since last updated the County’s website in 2012,” said Beaupre, in a release. “With more and more residents relying on an online connection to their municipality, we want to ensure our new website is functional and welcoming for users.”
