Two new COVID-19 cases identified in County of Grande Prairie

The County of Grande Prairie added two new cases of COVID-19 for September 24, as Alberta added 153 new cases.

The County now sits at 11 active cases, while the City of Grande Prairie remains at five active cases.

Elsewhere in the Peace Country, there were no new cases reported in the Mackenzie County area, which has seen 394 cases since the beginning of the pandemic. There are now 14 active cases there.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day September 24 are as follows:

• City of Grande Prairie: 97 cases (five active, 90 recovered, two deaths)
• County of Grande Prairie: 60 cases (11 active, 49 recovered)
• M.D. of Greenview: 15 cases (two active, 11 recovered, one death)
• Birch Hills County: Three cases (all recovered)
• M.D. of Spirit River: 11 cases (all recovered)
• Saddle Hills County: One case (recovered)
• M.D. of Smoky River: 74 cases (64 recovered, ten deaths)
• Big Lakes County: 48 cases (43 recovered, five deaths)
• M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 15 cases (three active, 11 recovered, one death)
• M.D. of Peace: 25 cases (two active, 23 recovered)
• M.D. of Fairview: 16 cases (all recovered)
• Clear Hills County: 88 cases (two active, 85 recovered, one death)
• Northern Sunrise County: Nine cases (three active, six recovered)
• County of Northern Lights: 54 cases (four active, 50 recovered)
• Mackenzie County: 394 cases (14 active, 367 recovered, 13 deaths)

Active cases in Alberta sat at 1,497 for the end of day Thursday, while there are now 15,585 recovered. No additional deaths were reported in Alberta for Thursday, keeping the COVID-linked death toll at 261.

Hospitalizations total 56 in Alberta for the end of day Thursday, with 14 of those individuals in ICU. Four people remain in hospital in northern Alberta.

A total of 14,211 tests were processed at the provincial lab on Thursday, bringing the completed total in Alberta to 1,269,261 on 968,031 people. 93,888 people from the North Zone have been tested since March.
