Revolution Place upgrades

City holding drop-in info sessions on Revolution Place upgrades

Sep 25, 2020 | 4:47 PM

The first in-person engagement sessions on proposed full-scale renovations to Revolution Place are to be held at the Bowes Events Centre next week.

Residents will have a chance to drop in between October 1-3 to share their thoughts on the proposed project, which would increase capacity in the arena to 5,000 seats, add 20 luxury suites and create separate entrances between the arena and Bowes Events Centre, among many other upgrades at an estimated cost of $55,000,000.

“We encourage everyone to pop by and share their thoughts, whether you are a community member, hockey player, business owner, artist, bookings manager, etc.,” said General Manager of Revolution Place Catherine Ridgeway, in a release.

“This is a great opportunity to learn more about the project, share ideas for improvement, and weigh-in on the future of the facility.”

The drop-in sessions are running on Thursday, October 1 from 5-7 p.m., October 2 from 11:30 a.m-1:30 p.m. and October 3 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

The City says the sessions are self-guided, giving attendees as much time as they need to give feedback through a variety of activities. Officials say COVID-19 health and safety regulations are being implemented.

This feedback will be used in conjunction with recent online and telephone surveys held this month to gauge the community’s thoughts and feelings towards the major project, ahead of such renovations being discussed at City Council’s budget deliberations in November.
