Three new COVID-19 cases reported in City of Grande Prairie

The City of Grande Prairie added three new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, while the province added 153 new cases.

The number of active cases in the Swan City has now increased to six as of September 29. There were four recoveries reported in the County of Grande Prairie yesterday to bring its active caseload down to seven. There was also one recovery recorded in the MD of Greenview area, where there is now one active case.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day September 29 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 101 cases (six active, 93 recovered, two deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 60 cases (seven active, 53 recovered)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 16 cases (one active, 14 recovered, one death)
  • Birch Hills County: Three cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 11 cases (all recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: One case (recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 74 cases (64 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 48 cases (43 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 17 cases (two actives, 14 recovered, one death)
  • M.D. of Peace: 25 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 16 cases (all recovered)
  • Clear Hills County: 89 cases (two actives, 86 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: Nine cases (three actives, six recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: 55 cases (One active, 54 recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 413 cases (17 active, 383 recovered, 13 deaths)

There are now 1,582 active cases of COVID-19 in Alberta as of Tuesday night, with 16,213 cases considered recovered. There was one more fatality linked to COVID-19 in the province, bringing the death toll to 267.

Hospitalizations sat at 64 for the end of day Tuesday with 13 of those individuals in an ICU. In the North Zone, seven people are in hospital with one of those patients in intensive care.

The increase in cases reported Wednesday comes as the provincial lab processed just over 14,000 tests on Tuesday, bringing the total of completed tests to 1,350,800 on 1,021,118 people. In the North Zone, 99,310 people have been tested, an increase of 884 on Tuesday.
