Medications, equipment stolen from Peace River Veterinary Clinic

Oct 8, 2020 | 5:10 PM

RCMP are investigating a break-in at the Peace River Veterinary Clinic, where medication and equipment were stolen.

Authorities say the break-in occurred in the early hours of Thursday morning. Several different types of drugs were stolen. Police say these drugs are “extremely dangerous” to humans when they are not prescribed by a physician.

“Some of the medications would most certainly be lethal if a human ingested one or two drops,” said Hannah Pope, a doctor of veterinary medicine at the clinic to police.

A list of the stolen medications includes:

  • Diazepam
  • Torbugesic
  • Ketamine
  • Dormosedan
  • Rompun
  • T-61
  • Acevet

There were also several pieces of equipment that were stolen, which Dr. Pope says are not very useful to non-veterinarians, but are quite valuable to the practice. Those items include:

  • Digital X-Ray machine computer with X-ray plate
  • Ultrasound machine with a digital screen and probe
  • Nebulizer (an inhaler for a horse)
  • Dental equipment, including drills with long shafts for horse dentistry
