City accepting applications for Neighbourhood Outdoor Rink Program
The City of Grande Prairie is accepting applications for residents that are interested in building and maintaining a small outdoor skating rink in their neighbourhood.
The Neighbourhood Outdoor Rink Program is free and provides approved applicants with the necessary supplies to install and maintain small skating rinks in parks near their home.
When filling out the application, the applicant must have a group of no less than five committed volunteers who can help build and maintain the rink year-round, as well as a specific location for where the rink should be placed.
For those who have never built and outdoor rink before, the City of Grande Prairie will provide rink installation training and maintenance for successful applicants. The City will also complete monthly hazard assessments on each rink.
