UPDATE (Oct. 23 9:30 a.m.): The City of Grande Prairie says that following a deep cleaning of the Salmond Fire Station, the station has reopened and has resumed regular operations.

One case of COVID-19 has been identified in an individual from the Salmond Fire Station, which will now be closed for a deep cleaning.

The City of Grande Prairie issued the statement Thursday afternoon, saying the station will be closed until the deep clean has been completed.

They add fire services in Grande Prairie will be maintained out of the Pete Eager and Westgate Fire Stations.

“The City of Grande and Grande Prairie Fire Department are working with Alberta Health Services to ensure a safe reopening of the facility.”

Last week, the Grande Prairie RCMP detachment was closed for a deep clean following positive tests results among 12 individuals there. The detachment reopened for front counter services on Monday, October 19.
