Positive COVID-19 case identified at Peace Wapiti Academy

Peace Wapiti Public School Division says a person affiliated with Peace Wapiti Academy has tested positive for COVID-19.

In a letter issued by the division on Friday to parents and staff, the school division says the individual was last in the school on October 20.

The letter adds that no direction has been given as of yet by Alberta Health Services, due to delays in contact tracing brought on by the recent spike in cases.

The school division says any staff or students that were in close contact with the confirmed case will be emailed by AHS and given further direction.

Parents and staff are being advised to start considering how their upcoming plans could be altered if any students and staff are identified by AHS as close contacts and are required to isolate.

A deep cleaning of the school is planned for this weekend.
