COVID-19 case identified at Charles Spencer High School

The Grande Prairie Public School Division has sent a letter to families of students who attend Charles Spencer High School, as a case of COVID-19 has been identified in an individual there.

Alberta Health Services is working to determine who may have been in close contact with the individual, and will be contacting those close contacts and advising them to get tested and not attend class until test results have come back.

Any students who may be forced to quarantine will be supported by the school division to complete school work.

Meanwhile, the school remains open for those not contacted by AHS, and the school division says work is being done to clean and disinfect key spaces and items touched by the individual.

The GPPSD reminds parents and guardians to monitor their children for signs or symptoms of the novel coronavirus, and to follow the Alberta Health checklist daily. Those who do have symptoms are asked to complete the online Alberta Health Services COVID-19 self-assessment, or to call Health Link at 811.
