RCMP execute 41 outstanding warrants, two arrested as part of planned initiative

The Western Alberta District RCMP’s Rural Crime Reduction Unit has conducted a planned warrant initiative to targeted prolific offenders.

Between September 21 and October 30, the RCMP executed 41 outstanding warrants in the rural communities under the Unit’s jurisdiction, including Peace River, High Prairie, and Grimshaw.

Those warrants led to the recovery of a stolen vehicle, vehicle stops and check stops that resulted in charges for offences that include impaired driving, operating a vehicle while suspended, operating a vehicle without registration and operating a vehicle while uninsured.

During this initiative, RCMP laid additional charges for provincial offenses and criminal code offences as a result of their arrests on warrants.

Louis Harry Whitehead, a 35 year-old from Little Buffalo, has been charged with obstructing a peace officer.

Whitehead was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Peace River Provincial Court on November 23.

Zachary Edward Badry, an 18 year-old from Drayton Valley faces charges on two counts of possession of stolen property over $5,000; resisting arrest; operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited; and two counts of breach of probation.

Following a judicial hearing, Badry was remanded into custody and his next court appearance in Drayton Valley Provincial Court is scheduled for December 1.

“The Western AB District Rural Crime Reduction Unit will continue to target and identify prolific offenders within rural communities as part of our ongoing crime reduction strategy in western Alberta,” said Chief Superintendent Rhonda Blackmore, Officer in Charge, Western Alberta District RCMP.
