GPRC receives largest-ever individual donation for new Evaskevich Centre for Health Research and Innovation

Grande Prairie Regional College has received the largest individual donation in it’s history from the Evaskevich family.

Paul and Coreen Evaskevich donated $500,000 to GPRC on November 19 to help establish the new Evaskevich Centre for Health Research and Innovation.

The new facility will be located in the College wing at the new Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, and will be dedicated to research surrounding rural, northern and Indigenous health helping benefit new and existing health care.

“We are grateful to the Evaskevich family for their commitment to the future of GPRC. A donation of this magnitude creates a real and meaningful impact on our institution, our students and our surrounding communities,” said Dr. Robert Murray, GPRC President and CEO.

The Evaskevich family has been supporting GPRC for over thirty years.

Coreen Evaskevich said that this donation will help make a positive impact in the community.

“Our family is excited to be part of the great work Grande Prairie Regional College is doing in our community. The Evaskevich Centre for Health Research and Innovation is a facility that will make a positive difference in people’s lives, and our family is honored to be able to contribute to this important initiative.”

The new centre will allow GPRC students and staff to engage in medical research and innovation within the Peace Region.

“This important centre creates an avenue to provide better services to people in northern Alberta and greatly increases the calibre of opportunities available to our health care students,” explained Dr. Murray.

Dr. Murray added that it was an honour to receive this money.

“We thank the Evaskevich family for their generous contribution to GPRC and look forward to sharing the future success of the Evaskevich Centre for Health Research and Innovation.”
