Doreen Ursula Lewis, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at the Grande Prairie Care Centre at the age of 96 years.
Doreen was born July 23, 1924, in Campbell River, BC. She was then raised on Quadra Island, BC. She attended the University of British Columbia to become a nurse, but was sidetracked by tuberculosis. That is when she met her husband Dick. They were married in Vancouver in 1946. They settled in Calgary, where they had their two children.
Ursie had a love for music, gardening and most of all her family. She was a true believer in the goodness of everyone. Ursie was very active in Genealogy, loved singing in choirs, and enjoyed spending time with her family. We have really enjoyed having her here in Grande Prairie the last 16 years after her husband passed.
She will be sadly missed by her son Fred (Janie) Lewis; grandchildren Tim (Brenda) Lewis and Joline (Robert) Luke, and Sukey Lewis; great-grandchildren: Tim Luke, Kori Luke, Jordyn Cote, and Atticus Lewis.
Ursie was predeceased by her parents; husband Dick Lewis; daughter Cathy Lewis; and her sisters Phyllis and Joy.
She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
