Fed Cattle Set-Aside Program adds nearly 15,000 head
GRANDE PRAIRIE, AB. – Alberta Beef Producers says 14,859 head were accepted into the Fed Cattle Set-Aside program for last week.
That is up just over 10,000 head from the week before and is the highest number of cattle set aside in one week since the program started back in June.
Once part of the program, cattle cannot be sold for 63 days; a time period that could be shortened to 30 days if the program’s management committee approves.
If the full 63 day period is observed, these cattle could not go to market before January 22.
