Grande Prairie economic area sees slight improvement in labour force
The economic region that includes Grande Prairie and the Peace Country saw its unemployment rate decrease slightly. However, the provincial rate is still above the national average after Alberta’s unemployment figures rose in November.
The Banff – Jasper – Rocky Mountain House and Athabasca – Grande Prairie – Peace River economic region saw its unemployment rate decrease from 10.8 per cent in October to 10.3 per cent in November. While the rate did drop, it was still much higher on a year-over-year basis, as the unemployment rate in November 2019 was recorded at 5.7 per cent.

While there was an improvement in the area that includes the Peace Country, the rest of the province did not fare as well.
