Lilly Day, long time resident of Valhalla Centre, Hythe and Grande Prairie Care Centre went home to her Lord on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at the age of 98 years.
Lilly was born on March 31, 1922 in Klepp, Norway to Karen and Hans Foss. She immigrated to Canada in 1929 with her mother Karen and brother Ole where they joined their father Hans and settled in the Valhalla Centre area where they farmed. Her sister Ruby was born in 1933.
Lilly met Archie while he was in the Grande Prairie area working on a thrashing crew and married on November 1, 1940. Archie joined the army, and left shortly after that where he served until the end of WW2. After the war Archie and Lilly settled in Golden BC, but Lilly thought the mountains were closing in on her so they moved to Valhalla Centre area where they bought a farm. They run a mixed farm operation raising various animals as well as their daughter Jeanette, born September 23, 1944.
They retired to Hythe in 1972 and enjoyed retirement until Archie passed away November 1992. Lilly moved to the Hythe Pioneer Lodge in 2002 where she resided until 2016, when she moved to the Grande Prairie Care Center.
Lilly leaves treasured memories with daughter Jeanette Davis(Terry), granddaughter Debi Dulyk(Steve), granddaughter-in-law Kendra Malainey, great grandchildren Stephenie Pardy(Roger), James Dulyk(Nema), Devan Dulyk(Shaelynn), Rylan Dulyk(Amanda), Dallan Dulyk, Alex Denham(Tyson), Cassie Malainey, Mattias and Halden Malainey, great great grandchildren Angelina, Crosby, Chloee, Kaeden, Kareem, Belle, Daelyn, Braxton, Blakely, and Brylee, Sister Ruby Sandboe, Sister-in-law Ellen Munday and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lilly was predeceased by husband Archie Day, grandson Darren Malainey, father Hans Foss, Mother Karen Foss, brother Ole Foss, sisters-in-law Buelah Foss, Thelma Timmath, Florence Day, Anne Day, brothers-in-law, Earl Day, Alfred Day, and Talbert Sandboe.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
