City of Grande Prairie adds 14 new COVID-19 cases, eight recoveries

Alberta is reporting 1,460 new cases of COVID-19 for Tuesday, December 8. There are currently 20,199 active cases in the province.

The City of Grande Prairie added 14 new cases along with eight recoveries. There are 112 active cases in the Swan City.

The County of Grande Prairie added just one new case and two more people recovered. The County is now down to 19 active cases.

For the second straight day, the M.D. of Greenview added no new COVID-19 cases. There was also one recovery in the region. There are 20 active cases in that region.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day December 8 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 576 cases (112 active, 459 recovered, five deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 187 cases (19 active, 167 recovered, one death)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 104 cases (20 active, 83 recovered, one death)
  • Birch Hills County: Seven cases (one active, six recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 31 cases (two active, 29 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: Eight cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 80 cases (one active, 69 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 75 cases (18 active, 52 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 84 cases (30 active, 54 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 160 cases (35 active, 125 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 53 cases (one active, 51 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 98 cases (97 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 45 cases (26 active, 19 recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: 69 cases (one active, 68 recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 448 cases (19 active, 416 recovered, 13 deaths)

Across the province, hospitalizations continued to rise. In the last 24 hours, hospitalizations grew from 654 to 685, while the number of ICU patients grew from 112 to 121.

In the North Zone, 33 people are in hospital and five people are in the ICU.

Alberta’s COVID-19 death toll grew by 13 to 653 people on Tuesday. None of the deaths reported on Tuesday were in the North Zone.

Across the province there were 16,792 COVID-19 tests completed, resulting in an 8.9 per cent test positivity rate.
