Grande Prairie adds 10 new COVID-19 cases, four recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie added 10 new cases of COVID-19 alongside four more recoveries, bringing the City’s active case total to 126 as of the end of day December 16.

The County of Grande Prairie added no new cases and five more recoveries, lowering the active case total there to 22.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day December 16 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 647 cases (126 active, 514 recovered, seven deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 206 cases (22 active, 183 recovered, one death)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 125 cases (26 active, 98 recovered, one death)
  • Birch Hills County: Seven cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 32 cases (all recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: Nine cases (one active, eight recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 85 cases (five active, 70 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 101 cases (31 active, 65 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 93 cases (15 active, 78 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 173 cases (26 active, 147 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 57 cases (four active, 52 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 98 cases (97 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 74 cases (34 active, 40 recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: 69 cases (all recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 466 cases (25 active, 427 recovered, 14 deaths)

The province added 1,571 new cases for December 16 after 19,852 tests were completed, creating a provincial positivity rate of 7.9 per cent.

Chief medical officer of health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, announced 30 newly reported deaths in the province linked to COVID-19. That brings Alberta’s COVID-19 death toll to 790.

Hospitalizations increased to 763 as of the end of day Wednesday, with 138 of those individuals in an ICU.

In the North Zone, 34 people are in hospital, seven of whom are in an ICU.
