Spirit River’s Dayle Ross has earned a hockey scholarship to an American school.

The blueliner has signed with St. Cloud State in Minnesota for the 2021-22 NCAA season.

Ross played with the Peace Country Female Athletic Club Storm before moving on to the St. Albert Slash U18 AAA team.

She helped the Slash win an Esso Cup U18 national championship, scoring a goal in the championship game

Ross’ soon-to-be head coach, Steve Macdonald, has some high praise for her.

“One of the top defensemen in Alberta, Dayle plays a very physical and aggressive style game,” Macdonald said, “She has a lot of raw skill and is beginning to grow into that potential. We are eager to add her passion and style of game to the Huskies lineup.”

Ross has played 56 games with St. Albert over the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons, tallying nine goals and 24 points in 56 games.
