Active cases in Grande Prairie drops by ten over last five days

The City of Grande Prairie added 52 new cases of COVID-19 from December 30 until January 3, while also recording 62 more recoveries. That brings the active case total in the Swan City to 117.

Alberta added 5,107 new cases since December 30. The province also saw it’s active case total drop from 14,555 to 13,839.

There were ten new cases added in the County of Grande Prairie along with ten recoveries over the last five days. The County of Grande Prairie remains at 28 active cases.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day January 3 are as follows:

• City of Grande Prairie: 822 cases (117 active, 697 recovered, eight deaths)
• County of Grande Prairie: 244 cases (28 active, 215 recovered, one death)
• M.D. of Greenview: 161 cases (32 active, 128 recovered, one death)
• Birch Hills County: Seven cases (all recovered)
• M.D. of Spirit River: 39 cases (seven active, 32 recovered)
• Saddle Hills County: 11 cases (two active, nine recovered)
• M.D. of Smoky River: 93 cases (five active, 78 recovered, 10 deaths)
• Big Lakes County: 247 cases (114 active, 128 recovered, five deaths)
• M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 117 cases (21 active, 96 recovered)
• M.D. of Peace: 229 cases (47 active, 182 recovered)
• M.D. of Fairview: 59 cases (one active, 57 recovered, one death)
• Clear Hills County: 99 cases (All recovered, one death)
• Northern Sunrise County: 135 cases (46 active, 89 recovered)
• County of Northern Lights: 70 cases (one active, 69 recovered)
• Mackenzie County: 481 cases (11 active, 456 recovered, 14 deaths

Alberta reported 96 more deaths as a result of COVID-19 since December 30, one of those deaths included a health care worker. Alberta’s total now stands at 1,142.

Hospitalizations across the province fell from 921 to 905, while ICU admissions also dropped from 152 to 136.

Alberta Health completed 66,008 COVID-19 tests since December 30. Those tests found a positivity rate of 7.7 per cent.

As for vaccinations administered in the province, there have been 22,861 doses given as of January 3. No adverse events following immunization have been reported to Alberta Health and Alberta Health Services.
