Marlene Darlene Plahta (nee Logan), resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Webster, AB, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at the QEII Hospital, at the age of 76 years.
Marlene was born on December 8, 1944, to Louie and Nellie Logan. She grew up on the family farm and attended the Webster school. Marlene married Frank Plahta in 1961, and they raised a family of four children on a farm in the Sexsmith, AB, area. She loved helping Frank with the numerous farming duties and carpentry projects that were done at home. Marlene enjoyed watching her husband Frank play his violin. One of the proudest times in her life was when she learned to play the guitar. She and Frank would practice and play together to pass the time in the evening.
Marlene will be sadly missed by her loving children: son Stan Plahta of Kelowna, BC, daughter Rachel (Ken) Szmata of Fairview, AB, daughter Janet Facette of Grande Prairie, and son Wayne (Andrea) of Calgary, AB; grandchildren: Andrea Szmata, Nicole (Jordan) Kobbert, Caleb Facette, and Carter Facette; sister Laurie (Ted) Ostaszewski of Grimshaw, AB; sister in-law Alida Logan; and brother in-law Calvin McInnis.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Frank; parents Louie and Nellie Logan; sisters Burnette Grotkowski and Diane McInnis; brothers Merle and Gerald Logan; and brother in-law Clem Grotkowski.
Marlene’s family would like to thank the staff at the QEII Hospital (3North) for providing such compassionate care up until her passing.
