The Grande Prairie RCMP say they handed out 431 tickets to both City and County of Grande Prairie drivers throughout December through enforcement initiatives.

In total, 17 impaired drivers were issued immediate roadside sanctions (IRS). They add four 30-day suspensions, six three-day suspensions and three 24-hour suspensions were issued.

Notable files mentioned in the release include a Christmas day stop, where police were called to a complaint of an impaired driver. The driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving, obstructing a peace officer and dangerous driving.

The driver was also charged with driving while unauthorized and driving carelessly under the Traffic Safety Act

Authorities also note of a driver involved in a two-vehicle collision in Grande Prairie on Boxing Day that registered a blood alcohol concentration of 260 mg (or 0.26). The 32-year-old man was arrested for impaired driving.
