Court update: Trial dates set for attempted murder suspects, charges withdrawn in drug case

Jan 22, 2021 | 6:00 AM

Alberta Justice says trial dates have been set for two of the four people charged in a Valleyview attempted murder.

The trial for Albert John Gladue and Dorian Anakian Harvey is set for December 7 and 8 in Valleyview.

They are two of the four people facing charges after an incident at around 5 a.m. on August 14 last year.

Valleyview RCMP said at the time that a man had suffered a gunshot wound and was taken to hospital. Police believe four suspects went into a Sturgeon Lake home where the man was shot at close range.

Mounties issued arrest warrants for Gladue, Harvey, Colin Alden Bartlett, and Tamara Marie Chowace. All four face charges that include attempted murder.

Harvey was arrested on August 15 while Gladue was taken into custody by Red Deer RCMP on September 18.

Bartlett and Chowace remain at large.

Charges withdrawn in drug case

Alberta Justice says the charges against two people in relation to a drug seizure in December of 2019 have been withdrawn.

The charges against Drew Terpsma were withdrawn on January 4 while the ones against Twila Letendre were withdrawn on November 19 of last year, the same date she was to stand trial.

Both had been facing counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a controlled substance.

They were charged after what Grande Prairie RCMP described at the time as a lengthy investigation into cocaine and methamphetamine trafficking.

The investigation led to a search of an Avondale-area home on December 12, 2019.

Police seized 229 grams of crystal meth, 46.5 grams of cocaine, just under three litres of GHB, and 1.3 grams of fentanyl. Police also seized cash, a rifle, and a handgun that had been reported stolen.
