The Peace River-Fairview-High Prairie-Manning forecast area remains under an extreme cold warning Friday, as Environment Canada says wind chill values could bring the temperature down near -40.

The weather office says the extreme cold wind values will moderate throughout today, before returning Friday night and into Saturday morning.

They add anyone who goes outside should dress warmly, as well as have a wind resistant outer layer.

“Cover up. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.”

Meanwhile, Environment Canada says windchill could bring temperatures down to around -33 Friday night in Grande Prairie. Friday’s high is -18, while Saturday is -16.
