COVID-19 UPDATE: February 4

Active COVID-19 cases hold in City of Grande Prairie

Feb 4, 2021 | 3:51 PM

The City of Grande Prairie recorded 15 new cases of COVID-19 and 15 more recoveries for Thursday’s update. That keeps the number of active cases in the city at 136.

The new cases come as 582 new cases were reported by Alberta Health for February 3. Chief medical officer of health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, says 421 of those new cases in Alberta were identified on Wednesday, while the other 161 were added from Tuesday’s testing.

Dr. Hinshaw says a technical issue with its reporting system was detected, with approximately 6,000 tests from Tuesday being left out of Wednesday’s reporting.

“This is a one time error, that only affected our public reporting, not the notification of positive cases,” explained Hinshaw Thursday. “This error has now been fixed and we are including them in today’s update.”

Meantime, there were five new cases recorded in the County of Grande Prairie, while there were also three more recoveries, bringing the active case total there to 42.
