Grande Prairie adds ten new COVID-19 cases, Alberta adds 396

Alberta reported 396 new cases of COVID-19 for February 4, bringing the active case total in the province to 6,407.

The City of Grande Prairie added ten new cases along with 11 recoveries. There are currently 135 active cases in the city.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there were no new cases and eight recoveries. There are 34 active cases in that region.

Clear Hills County also saw their only active case of COVID-19 recover.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day February 4 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 1,226 cases (135 active, 1,070 recovered, 21 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 364 cases (34 active, 326 recovered, four deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 308 cases (37 active, 269 recovered, two deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: Ten cases (one active, nine recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 44 cases (two active, 42 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 15 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 109 cases (two active, 97 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 449 cases (23 active, 419 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 216 cases (52 active, 164 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 371 cases (35 active, 336 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 56 cases (55 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 106 cases (105 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 222 cases (13 active, 208 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 75 cases (four active, 71 recoveries)
  • Mackenzie County: 571 cases (41 active, 515 recovered, 15 deaths)

Across the province, hospitalizations fell from 517 to 475, while the number of ICU patients also fell from 93 to 89.

There were nine more deaths confirmed as a result of COVID-19 in Alberta, bringing the province’s total to 1,693.

In the last 24 hours, Alberta Health was able to conduct 9,989 tests, resulting in a 3.98 per cent test positivity rate.

Over 114,000 Albertans have now received their first COVID-19 vaccine.
