Grande Prairie adds 14 new COVID-19 cases, six recoveries

There were 14 new cases of COVID-19 and six more recoveries recorded in the City of Grande Prairie for February 5, bringing the city’s active case total up to 143 as of the end of the day Friday.

The County of Grande Prairie, meanwhile, added two new cases and five more recoveries, lowering the number of active cases there to 31.

Across Alberta, there were 348 new cases recorded for Friday, after 10,033 tests were completed by the provincial lab. That creates a positivity rate of 3.5 per cent.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day February 5 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 1,240 cases (143 active, 1,076 recovered, 21 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 366 cases (31 active, 331 recovered, four deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 308 cases (36 active, 270 recovered, two deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: Ten cases (one active, nine recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 44 cases (two active, 42 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 15 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 109 cases (99 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 450 cases (20 active, 420 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 218 cases (50 active, 168 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 371 cases (33 active, 338 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 56 cases (55 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 106 cases (105 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 224 cases (15 active, 208 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 75 cases (four active, 71 recoveries)
  • Mackenzie County: 575 cases (42 active, 515 recovered, 15 deaths)

Hospitalizations once again dropped across the province on Friday, going from 475 on Thursday to 457. ICU admissions also decreased, going from 89 to 84 as of Friday night.

In the North Zone, 52 people are in hospital, eight of whom are in an ICU.

Alberta Health also reported 12 more deaths linked to COVID-19 on Saturday, bringing the province’s death toll to 1,705.
