Grande Prairie adds nine new COVID-19 cases, 15 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie recorded nine new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, alongside 15 recoveries to bring the city’s active case total down to 184 as of the end of day Feb. 12.

The County of Grande Prairie added five new cases yesterday, along with three recoveries to raise the active case total there by two to 41.

Across Alberta there were 305 new cases recorded on Friday after 8,070 tests were completed. Those tests came back with a 3.8 per cent positivity rate.

Updated case total among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day February 12 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 1,356 cases (184 active, 1,151 recovered, 21 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 393 cases (41 active, 349 recovered, three deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 327 cases (42 active, 283 recovered, two deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 12 cases (three active, nine recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 45 cases (one active, 44 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 15 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 109 cases (99 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 458 cases (26 active, 422 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 225 cases (33 active, 192 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 388 cases (29 active, 359 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 57 cases (one active, 55 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 106 cases (105 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 225 cases (13 active, 211 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 75 cases (three active, 72 recoveries)
  • Mackenzie County: 592 cases (36 active, 540 recovered, 16 deaths)

There were 15 more fatalities linked to COVID-19 in Alberta reported on Saturday, bringing the provincial death toll to 1,775 as of February 5. Of those, one was recorded in the Mackenzie County area, and was a female in her 80s.

Hospitalizations across the province dropped once again, lowering by 14 to 357 as of Friday night. Of those people in hospital, 64 people are in an ICU, two less than the day prior.

There was one less person in hospital in the North Zone, with 44 people hospitalized as of Friday night. Three of those people in an ICU.
