The Grande Prairie Regional Tourism Association has brought in a familiar face to be its new Executive Director.

The association says Ken Loudon, a long-time community development and hospitality sector professional, will slide into the role on March 1.

“I’m excited to take on the leadership of a vital organization,” said Loudon. “I look forward to working with the Board and staff to promote the area at such a pivotal time.”

Loudon is a past President and Board member of the GPRTA and has also previously served as a director on the Grande Prairie & District Chamber of Commerce Board. In 2004, he was presented with the Clem E. Collins Award for his service to the Chamber, and organization he’s been a member of for nearly 25 years.

The association adds Loudon has been a member of the Swan City Rotary Club for the last two decades, where he has previously served as president and a board member.

“We’re excited to move forward with Ken as Executive Director,” said Johnathan Clarkson, GPRTA Board President. “Ken’s experience within the region is a tremendous asset. We’re fortunate to have recruited a leader with a well-rounded background in tourism, hospitality, business, and volunteerism.”

Loudon has also worked as Regional Corporate Development Manager/Regional Manager at the Grande Prairie/Wood Buffalo YMCA of Northern Alberta. His background also includes work in the hotel and casino industry.

“Ken’s knowledge, skills and passion will be invaluable as we develop strategies to navigate through the evolving tourism industry,” added Clarkson.
