Grande Prairie adds 22 new COVID-19 cases, 12 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie added 22 new cases of COVID-19, as well as 12 recoveries on Wednesday, raising the active case total in the city to 230 as of the end of day February 17.

The County of Grande Prairie, meanwhile, added four new cases and one new recovery, bringing the active case total there to 46.

In Alberta there were 415 new cases recorded for Wednesday, after 10,275 tests were completed. Those tests came back with a four per cent positivity rate.

Of new cases added in Alberta, 52 of those were added in Mackenzie County. There are now 86 active cases in that municipality, which includes High Level and La Crete, as of Feb. 17.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day February 17 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 1,451 cases (230 active, 1,200 recovered, 21 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 410 cases (46 active, 361 recovered, three deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 356 cases (59 active, 295 recovered, two deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 12 cases (two active, 10 recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 46 cases (two active, 44 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 15 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 110 cases (one active, 99 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 457 cases (22 active, 425 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 238 cases (29 active, 209 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 405 cases (40 active, 365 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 57 cases (one active, 55 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 106 cases (105 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 232 cases (12 active, 219 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 77 cases (three active, 74 recoveries)
  • Mackenzie County: 653 cases (86 active, 551 recovered, 16 deaths)

Seven new deaths were announced by Alberta Health on Thursday, bringing the provincial death toll to 1,805.

Hospitalizations in Alberta decreased by eight to 362 as of Wednesday night, with ICU admissions sitting at 55, down five from the day prior.

In the North Zone, 55 people are in hospital, none of whom are in intensive care.

Alberta Health says 155,532 doses of vaccine have been administered as of Feb. 17, with 58,674 Albertans having now been fully immunized.
