Grande Prairie adds 14 new COVID-19 cases, 24 recoveries

The active COVID-19 case count in the City of Grande Prairie saw a decline on Friday, as 14 new cases were recorded alongside 24 recoveries, bringing the current active case count down to 227 and the number of recoveries up to 1,237.

The County also saw two recoveries and no new cases, bringing the active case count there down to 46.

The changes come as 380 new cases of the novel coronavirus were recorded in Alberta. There were 8,380 tests completed on Friday, meaning the positivity rate for the day was 4.5 per cent.

Updated ase totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day February 19 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 1,485 cases (227 active, 1,237 recovered, 21 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 415 cases (46 active, 366 recovered, three deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 360 cases (58 active, 301 recovered, one death)
  • Birch Hills County: 12 cases (one active, 11 recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 47 cases (three active, 44 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 15 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 110 cases (one active, 99 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 458 cases (17 active, 431 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 239 cases (24 active, 215 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 414 cases (46 active, 368 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 57 cases (one active, 55 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 106 cases (105 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 235 cases (15 active, 219 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 77 cases (three active, 74 recoveries)
  • Mackenzie County: 686 cases (103 active, 567 recovered, 16 deaths)

Alberta Health says hospitalizations decreased by 16 to 336, with 51 of those individuals in intensive care units. There are 47 Albertans in the North Zone in hospital, though none of them are in the ICU.

Six more deaths linked to COVID-19 were also reported, bringing the provincial death toll up to 1,818. Of those deaths, 130 were recorded in the North Zone/

A total of 165,527 vaccine doses have been administered in the province, with 63,882 Albertans now fully immunized. There have been 91 adverse events following immunization in the province, though Alberta Health does not provide any specifics on what those reactions involve.
