Grande Prairie adds 18 new COVID-19 cases, 20 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie added 18 new cases of COVID-19 along with 20 recoveries for February 27, bringing the total number of active cases in the city to 202.

The County of Grande Prairie meantime added eight new cases and four recoveries, bringing its active case total to 54.

Across Alberta, there were 301 new COVID-19 cases identified for February 27 on 7,503 tests, resulting in a four per cent test positivity rate. There are currently 4,584 active cases in the province, 1,059 of those active cases are in the North Zone.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day Feb. 27 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 1,621 cases (202 active, 1,397 recovered, 22 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 453 cases (54 active, 396 recovered, three deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 381 cases (41 active, 337 recovered, three deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 12 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 47 cases (two active, 45 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 14 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 110 cases (100 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 461 cases (eight active, 442 recovered, 11 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 251 cases (23 active, 228 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 439 cases (50 active, 389 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 57 cases (56 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 106 cases (105 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 236 cases (nine active, 226 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 94 cases (20 active, 74 recoveries)
  • Mackenzie County: 864 cases (270 active, 578 recovered, 16 deaths)

Across the province, hospitalizations fell by 12 down to 250, while ICU patients also fell from 51 to 46. In the North Zone there are 28 people in hospital and two patients in the ICU.

There were three more deaths reported as a result of COVID-19, bringing the provinces COVID-19 death toll to 1,886.

As of Saturday 227,678 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered, 87,695 Albertans have been fully immunized.
