Grande Prairie RCMP investigating suspicious interactions involving youth, male suspect

Mar 5, 2021 | 10:16 PM

Grande Prairie RCMP are seeking dash cam video or any information in regards to suspicious interactions between an unknown adult male and several minors Friday afternoon in the area of 99 Street and 109 Avenue.

Police say around 3:51 p.m. on March 5, a suspicious male on foot attempted to befriend two children, aged 7 and 11. A parent soon interrupted this interaction, authorities say, and the man fled northbound after being confronted.

The suspicious man was later seen in the same general area a short time later, where he interacted with two different children. The suspect was again interrupted by a parent, which again led to him fleeing.

The suspect is described as a skinny Caucasian man in his early 40’s with long, reddish blonde hair. He was wearing jeans, an open black jacket with a white shirt. He was also wearing reflective yellow sunglasses with grey arms and a black ball cap.

RCMP are investigating these reports, and are using this case to remind parents to educate their kids about adult stranger safety.

Anyone with dash cam video from between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. in the area of 99 Street and 109 Avenue, as well as any other information about these incidents, is asked to come forward.

The Grande Prairie RCMP can be contacted at 780-830-5700. Information can also be reported anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
