300 new COVID-19 cases identified in Alberta

Due to system upgrades, Alberta Health is only offering preliminary COVID-19 data Sunday.

Alberta added 300 new cases, including 54 of concern variant cases, in the last day. That gives Alberta a total of 653 total variant cases, up from 430 last Sunday (Feb. 28).

The total number of cases recorded in Alberta since the first on March 5, 2020 is 135,837.

There were 8,100 lab tests completed for a positivity rate of approximately 3.7 per cent.

Vaccine doses administered total 290,391, about 8,000 more than yesterday.

As of Saturday, there were 4,649 active cases of COVID-19 in the province. That’s 65 more than last Sunday.

Hospitalizations as of yesterday numbered 247, down three from Feb. 28. ICU admissions are down four from last Sunday to 42, as of Saturday.
