11 new COVID-19 cases, 25 recoveries in Grande Prairie

The City of Grande Prairie added 11 new cases of COVID-19 and 25 new recoveries, lowering the active case total in the city to 200 as of the end of day March 9.

The County of Grande Prairie added 10 new cases and seven recoveries. There are now 74 active cases there.

Across Alberta, 399 new cases have been identified following the completion of 10,414 tests. Those tests came back with a 3.8 per cent positivity rate.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day March 9 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 1,766 cases (200 active, 1,543 recovered, 23 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 511 cases (74 active, 434 recovered, three deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 420 cases (44 active, 373 recovered, three deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 12 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 47 cases (all recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 14 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 113 cases (one active, 102 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 463 cases (three active, 449 recovered, 11 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 254 cases (five active, 249 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 475 cases (41 active, 434 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 58 cases (one active, 56 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 106 cases (105 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 239 cases (four active, 234 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 96 cases (six active, 90 recoveries)
  • Mackenzie County: 970 cases (147 active, 805 recovered, 18 deaths)

Hospitalizations in Alberta for COVID-19 sat at 254 as of Tuesday night, down nine from the day prior. Of those in hospital, 37 are in the ICU.

In the North Zone, 30 people are in hospital, one person is in intensive care.

There were two deaths from COVID-19 reported to Alberta Health over the last 24 hours, bringing the province’s death toll to 1,928.

The province has now administered 308,962 doses of vaccine, with 91,259 Albertans having received two doses.
