Grande Prairie adds 15 new COVID-19 cases, 22 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie dropped below 200 active cases of COVID-19 for March 11, after 15 new cases and 22 recoveries were recorded in the city. The net decrease of seven active cases brings the active caseload to 197 as of the end of day Thursday.

The change dropped the city below 200 active cases for the first time since February 13.

The County of Grande Prairie added three new cases and three recoveries, holding the active case total there are 75.

Across Alberta there were 425 new cases identified following the completion of 9,913 tests. The positivity rate on those tests was approximately 4.3 per cent.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day March 11 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 1,795 cases (197 active, 1,575 recovered, 23 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 520 cases (75 active, 442 recovered, three deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 424 cases (44 active, 377 recovered, three deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 12 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 47 cases (all recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 14 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 112 cases (102 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 465 cases (five active, 449 recovered, 11 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 254 cases (four active, 250 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 480 cases (45 active, 435 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 58 cases (one active, 56 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 106 cases (105 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 240 cases (five active, 234 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 96 cases (two active, 94 recoveries)
  • Mackenzie County: 1,005 cases (147 active, 840 recovered, 18 deaths)

Hospitalizations sat at 257 as of Thursday night in Alberta, with 38 of those people in an ICU. In the North Zone, 29 people are in hospital, two of whom are in intensive care.

Two more deaths from COVID-19 were reported to Alberta Health over the last 24 hours. A total of 1,935 deaths have now been recorded in Alberta.

Vaccine doses administered in the province have now hit 333,379, which is an increase of 15,805 over the last 24 hours. 91,470 Albertans have been fully immunized with two doses.
