Ten new COVID-19 cases in Grande Prairie, 20 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie added 10 new cases of COVID-19 and 20 recoveries for March 14, dropping the active case total to 172.

The County of Grande Prairie added six new cases and seven recoveries, dropping the number of active cases by one to 70 as of the end of day Sunday.

The province added 364 new cases on Sunday, following the completion of 6,618 tests. The positivity rate in the province sits at approximately 5.5 per cent.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day March 14 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 1,826 cases (172 active, 1,631 recovered, 23 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 539 cases (70 active, 466 recovered, three deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 422 cases (30 active, 389 recovered, three deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 12 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 48 cases (one active, 47 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 14 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 112 cases (102 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 466 cases (six active, 449 recovered, 11 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 254 cases (two active, 252 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 479 cases (40 active, 439 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 58 cases (one active, 56 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 106 cases (105 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 240 cases (five active, 234 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 98 cases (four active, 94 recoveries)
  • Mackenzie County: 1,072 cases (188 active, 866 recovered, 18 deaths)

Hospitalizations jumped to 255 in Alberta as of Sunday night, with ICU admissions also increasing to 42.

In the North Zone, 29 people are in hospital, two of whom are in an ICU.

There were three more deaths reported to Alberta Health over the last 24 hours, bringing the provincial death toll to 1,949.

A total of 368,124 doses of vaccine have now been administered, an increase of 10,141 over the last 24 hours. A total of 91,593 Albertans have been fully immunized.
